Black by the Bay is the Vision and Brainchild of Sister Paula Livers-Powell. Sister Paula is a Cultural Custodian, Educator, Historian, Inspirational Speaker, Community Activist. She currently serves as the Founder/Director of the African-American Resource & Cultural Center at the University of California Santa Cruz for almost two decades on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula. Sis. Paula is devoted to promoting the cultural legacy of the black experience, educational advocacy, community service and continuing Dr. King's dream of the Beloved Commnity.
Black By the Bayis an extraordinary opportunity to showcase the infinite and significant contributions of the African/American Diaspora in America. Sister Paula has discovered many valuable historical treasures throughout this country. The legacy and culture of black America are located in numerous cities by coastal waters and seascapes from which we landed upon leaving our homelands in Africa. Black by the Bay is dedicated to exchanging knowledge and resources. Promoting our past, present and future contributions and cultural treasures. Black by the Bay is dedicated to our youth, elders, sisters and brothers of all creeds who believe in the promotion of positive images and contribution of the Black Experience in America. Black by the Bay is a site about solutions, outcomes, uplift and empowerment for those people who believe in the values and traditions of our ancestors and fore parents who embraced social change and service to all humankind
Black By the Bayis a response to the cultural and spiritual decline we are experiencing in our community with limited advocacy. Black By the Bay is a vehicle to chronicle this site's effort to make a difference, live out the principles of Kwanzaa and generate a legacy of Greater Love and a Ministry of Discipleship to empower people who are feeling silenced. Black by the Bay strives to provide a safe harbor for those who seek to lift their voices with integrity, pride and collective compassion. Join us in this visionary leadership to identify resources to help our youth, seniors, singles, and anyone in need of a blessing.
